Siemens Energy will deliver 35 wind turbines to Minnesota Power for its Bison 2 wind energy centre near North Dakota, US.

The firm will provide transportation, erection and commissioning of the SWT-3.0-101 direct drive wind turbines and a three-year service and maintenance agreement.

Siemens will begin delivering the wind turbines in August 2012, and the wind power plant will become commercially operational by the end of 2012.

The SWT-3.0-101 have a unit capacity of 3MW and a rotor diameter of 101m, which provides an innovative direct drive concept with a permanent magnet generator.
