ACWA Power Energy Company has started construction of the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron wind park near Baku. Investments in the project will amount to $300 million. After the commissioning of the wind park it is planned to provide electricity to 300 thousand households. At the same time 220 million m3 of gas will be saved which will reduce 400 thousand tons of СО2 emissions into the atmosphere annually.

The K-300-240 steam power unit No. 8 has been tested and is ready for operation, its capacity was increased by 30 MW. In the future seven more power units will be upgraded at the station. The station's capacity will be 2,640 MW. The volume of investments in the modernization project is 88 billion rubles.

During the modernization of the power unit fulfilled by Power Machines JSC the high-pressure cylinder of the turbine, the medium-pressure cylinder of the turbine with intermediate steam overheating were replaced, and a number of related works were carried out. The efficiency parameters of the station have been improved, specific consumption of conventional fuel for electricity production will decrease by 10...12 g of conventional fuel per kWh.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced the receipt of an order for one 5 MW class GPB50D gas turbine cogeneration system. The order was placed by Malaysia’s Sime Darby Energy Solution Sdn. Bhd. through Kuala Lumpur–based Kawasaki Gas Turbine Asia Sdn. Bhd. (KGA).

Due to the increased needs of the enterprise, two JMS 320 GS gas engine power plants manufactured by INNIO Jenbacher will be installed at the station. The supplier of the equipment was Max Motors. New gas engine plants are needed for the expanding dairy plant and new treatment facilities.

Since 2014 three JMS 320 GS power plants each rated at 1063 kW have been operated as a part of the enterprise's power plant.

Alfa Balt Balt Engineering is implementing a project of multi-unit diesel power station. The scope of work includes the design, manufacture and supply of BKEM NORD-1800/0.4-U1 8 diesel generators each rated at 1384 kW and a voltage of 10.5 kV.
