Coal-fired power plants Kozienice and Lodz to receive upgrades worth €15 million.

Alstom has signed two modernisation contracts in Poland worth approximately €15 million. The first contract signed on 28 March 2012 with Elektrownia “Kozienice” S.A.consists of upgrading steam turbine units no 3 and 6 of the Kozienice power plant. The scope of the project will include exchanging blades and diaphragms, revitalising steam turbine casings and valve chambers and multiple equipment overhauls.

This modernisation project marks several key benefits for Poland’s second largest coal-fired power station with an installed capacity of 2820 MW. As a result of the upgrades, the Kozienice power plant will benefit from an increase of power output by 3MW per unit, an efficiency increase for the high-pressure turbine and lifetime extension.

Earlier in February 2012, Dalkia Łódź S.A awarded Alstom the contract to perform a series of upgrades to units no 3 and 4 of the Lodz cogeneration heat power plant. With an installed capacity of 1671MW, the coal-fired Lodz plant will receive major turbine generator set overhauls, new high-pressure steam turbine modules and other equipment upgrades. Modernisation will result in an increase of the steam turbine generator sets’ efficiency, power and availability.
