Siemens to supply turbines for 267MW wind power plant in US.

Siemens Energy has secured a contract from Portland General Electric Company to supply wind turbines for the 267MW Tucannon River wind power plant in the US. According to the deal, Siemens will provide 116 units of its SWT-2.3-108 wind turbines, which have a capacity of 2.3MW and a rotor diameter of 108m.

The contract covers delivery as well as installation of the wind turbines and a five-year service and maintenance deal. Installation of the wind turbines is planned to start in 2014, while the project is expected to be completed in 2015. Situated in Columbia County, Washington, the power plant is anticipated to generate enough power to serve approximately 84,000 homes in the region.
