Siemens has shipped two gas turbines, which are scheduled to be installed in the Egypt's Beni Suef power plant in mid-May. The two 12.6m long and 5.5m wide SGT5-8000H turbines are first of eight to be installed in the plant in several phases.

In March last year, Siemens reached agreements with the Egyptian government to build 4.4GW Beni Suef power plant in Southern Egypt and install wind power capacity of 2GW.

Under the agreed terms, Siemens is responsible for providing engineering, procurement and construction services for the Beni Suef combined-cycle power plant. The power plant will be built in four modules, each of which will have two H-class gas turbines, two heat recovery steam generators, one steam turbine, and three generators.

Siemens is building three natural gas-fired combined cycle power plants including Beni Suef, Burullus and New Capital with H-class technology and a total capacity of 14.4GW in the country.
