IN BRIEF #1-2019

Siemens industrial gas turbine plants maintenance and overhaul: all works are performed on the site.

Technical support service concept was developed by Siemens on the base of long-term experience of gas turbine fleet maintenance in different countries. Specific operating conditions of each gas turbine plant stipulate different requirements to the maintenance and overhaul. The primary targets of technical support are keeping operating parameters of the equipment on the necessary level, increasing reliability of gas turbine plants operation, cutting the periods of scheduled and downtimes and extension of the equipment service life. The article presents key aspects of gas turbine plants maintenance which must be taken into account before purchase of the equipment. As an example SGT-700 gas turbine plant maintenance was described.

Advancement of hightemperature turbine nozzle guide vanes cooling systems.

Nozzle guide vanes of up-to-date gas turbine engines operate in extremely severe conditions. Turbine inlet gas temperature is 2100 °С, pressure differential between cooling air and fuel gas is 15 kgs/cm2, gas stream speed is over 400 m/s. Concurrently, the requirements to vanes service life and turbine inlet gas temperature are continuously increasing. It is important to note that to arrange necessary cooling of nozzle guide vanes and to enable their reliable and long-term operation is very complicated task. Aviadvigatel
JSC uses univariate, two-dimensional, three-dimensional and quasi-three-dimensional
methods for thermal condition measurement of gas turbine components. All these models
are used for preliminary design calculations of turbine components. Digital three-dimensional CFD-methods are also used for these purposes.

The New MTU Series 4000 with Advanced Technological Concepts for EU Stage IIIB, EPA Tier 4 and IMO 3 Emission Legislations.

Since market introduction in 1996, Series 4000 engines have consistently demonstrated their reliability over several million hours of operation in Rail, Mining, Marine, Power Generation and Oil & Gas applications throughout the world. The units in 12V, 16V and 20V configuration cover a power range from 1000 to 4300kW.
To ensure it can offer engines with even lower emissions in future, MTU has comprehensively reworked its Series 4000engines. Development of the Model Type 05 focused on fulfilling the emission legislations EU Stage IIIB, EPA Tier 4 and IMO 3 which require a further reduction of NOx levels by 45 to 90 %.

Low-emission burners for gas turbines with annular-type combustion chambers.

Regardless of enough explored theory of gas combustion the problems of receiving of homogeneous fuel-air mixture with its complete combustion at temperatures providing ultra-low levels of nitrogen oxides with creating of high-energy working medium in gas turbines at present are not solved fundamentally. The main problem of domestic engineers is the development of gas turbine hot path and rotor supports operating at high temperatures and flow speed, working medium pressure difference with destroying front of excess pressure and thermoacoustic vibrations.
At present some units of microturbines have been developed and tested but others can not be created because of the lack of funding and non availability of  experienced specialists. It is important to note that regardless of efforts of many scientific organizations and industrial enterprises no one gas turbine was brought to
serial production.

GTE-110: development and implementation of inlet scroll made from compound materials.

Power engineering industry in Russia feels the need of reliable and effective domestic heavy gas turbines. The only sample of such equipment produced in Russia is GTD-110 gas turbine engine manufactured by UEC-Saturn PJSC. It shows high technical and economic performance but however has a variety of disadvantages  detected during field operation.
In the period of 2014-2018 design, calculation and technological works were carried out to remove shortcomings. Then full-scale tests of GTD-110 gas turbine were conducted at engineering test bed in Komsomolsk (Ivanovskaya Region).
Together with testing of main engine components the analysis of air-intake system operation was carried out. At this the volume of losses of full pressure at compressor inlet was evaluated.

Conserving ecology: conversion of refrigeration units to the operation with new generation cooling agents.

Kazancompressormash and NIIturbokompressor named after V.B. Shnepp (members of HMS Group) in cooperation with VNIIHolodmash carry out upgrading of heavy centrifugal refrigerating units of HTM and HTMF types which are in  operation on the site of Electrochemical plant Production Association («TVEL» Fuel Company, Rosatom Corporation).
Centrifugal refrigerating units are closed loop hermetically sealed systems.
The main components of such systems are turbocompressor, step-up gear, electric drive motor, condenser, evaporator and float tank connected to each other with pipelines. The system is filled with cooling agent continuously circulating in it from one part of the system to another. Centrifugal refrigerating units are used for cold generation in heavy industrial air-conditioning systems. After upgrading energy efficiency of centrifugal refrigerating units will be significantly increased.

Reasonability of the investments to service staff training.

Investments in staff training require a careful approach. In the issue of servicing of the CHP units the most cost-effective way is an integrated approach that includes three main components, such as long-term service contracts, remote monitoring 24/7 and staff raining. From 25th to 28th of February, 2019, the training organized by TEX group in cooperation with Motortech GmbH was held in St. Petersburg for CHP staff.
The training included theoretical course and practical training. Under the courses program the representatives of Motortech introduced new products and in-depth review of AllinOne new generation controllers. Engineers and technical specialists of various operating  companies and customers of TEX took part of the event.

Golden lightnings were handed out in Moscow.

The winners of Small power generation - great achievements international prize were announced in Moscow. Grand ceremony of winners awarded were held this year in Congress center of Russian chamber of commerce and industry.
This year the organizing committee has totally registered 90 applications from Russia, Japan, Republic of Belarus, Italy and Germany. The award was initiated and organized by the Ural Low Generation Association with the support of Russian Federation State Duma energy committee, RF Ministry of Energy. The purpose of the award is the identifying of organizations who have achieved significant activities and achievements in the field of small distributed energy.
