IN BRIEF #4-2019

EnergoTechService is the general partner of Tyumensky oil & gas forum.

EnergoTechService production & engineering company is swiftly gaining traction. Development, production of equipment, realization of the projects, overhaul of power equipment, service and maintenance – is incomplete list of activity directions of the company. Shortly before the beginning of Tyumensky petroleum forum the article presents the interview on the base of conversation
of Dmitry Kapralov, Editor-in-Chief of Turbines & Diesels magazine with Alexander
Svergin, Director of EnergoTechService Ltd.

Energas Group of Companies implementsmulti-function gas processing plants.
Project and production-service activities of Energas Group of Companies is focused on the search and realization of design and engineering solutions for the development of multifunction gas processing plants. The plants are intended for guaranteed high-quality various gases processing in any branches of industry. Every year Energas successfully realizes different industry specific projects. Gas
processing plants are divided into two types: packaged and multiunit.

First CHP power plant on the base of Liebherr G944 gas engine operates in
Russia.
Cogeneration power plant packaged in Russia was commissioned in December 2018. The plant operates on the base mode and generates electric and thermal
power for the needs of bread-baking complex. Container power plant was installed on the open site of the enterprise. It’s electric output is 150 kW. The plant operates in parallel with the main power grid. The main fuel for the station is pipeline natural gas. The station was developed on the base of G944 gas engine.

Why do up-to-date gas engines need next generation oils?
Gas engine builders are continuing to push the boundaries of engine design. But not all existing lubricants can cope with these changes. Many gas engine configurations
are now larger, cleaner and more cost-effective to run, with emissions such as carbon monoxide and NOx down and power outputs up. To achieve these results, a number of operational fundamentals have changed. Many of the new generation of gas engines operate at higher pressures (BMEP) and combustion temperatures than previous models. Taken together, these features can create an environment which
is far more severe for a lubricating oil. Traditional lubricants can often suffer and, for many, it can trigger premature oil degradation.

OpenECS universal engine control system platform with open software based on an industrial PLC.

Gas engines have always been equipped with electronic controls that are vital for reliable start-up and safe operation with the nonstandardized fuel gas. In the past, Engine Control Systems (ECS) were considered as external units.
They kept speed, load and air-fuel ratio constant and prevented the engine from
exceeding critical limits. Nowadays, high-end reciprocating engines are mechatronic systems whose properties are significantly determined by the ECS software. Therefore, most combustion developments and mechanical design changes involve additional software development. Some engine manufacturers spend considerable effort in developing their own control systems, others are seeking for appropriate cooperation partners.OpenECS describes a way of cooperation between an engine manufacturer and a control system supplier and integrator, granting the engine manufacturer direct access to the control code. As in combustion development, where it is quite common to consult external engineering companies, the engine manufacturer has the choice to develop the software in-house or to use external experts.

CHP plant upgrading in Nordhausen, Germany.

In 2017, the time had come for an overhaul of the five gas engines in the  ogeneration plant Mitte, which were gradually growing old. It was decided to put wood behind the arrow and replace the engines in order to upgrade cogeneration
plant technology. The introduction of a new cogeneration law provided additional
motivation for the engine replacement. In the project tender procedure, Caterpillar Energy Solutions was awarded a contract for four modern MWM TCG 2020 V20 gas engines with a total output of 8,000 kW. For the comprehensive modernization, the new four (instead of five) engines were placed on new fundaments, large gates were installed in the walls.
