IN BRIEF #3-2021

ETS-W1560:EnergoTekhServis expands the model range of its gas engine power plants.
Since the beginning of 2021 the range of modular gas engine power plants of EnergoTechService company has been supplemented with a new model – ETS-W1560. Rated power of the plant launched in mass production is 1250 kW, which is 15 % higher than the output of its closest predecessor, ETS-W1375 gas engine power plant.
The design of the ETS-W1560 confirmed the commitment of EnergoTechService LLC to its basic design principles: the plant remained compact, with a high degree of factory readiness, universal in its application and convenient for maintenance.

Flexible couplings for gas pumping units and gas turbine power plants– wide range and reliability.
The use of up-to-date flexible connections between gas turbine engine and driving unit allows to significantly reduce the level of vibration, eliminate oil losses, increase the efficiency of the connection of the units and significantly increase the overall service life of the unit. Flexible couplings transmit torque from the drive to compressor, generator, pump, etc. with minimal losses and reactive forces. Their creation made it possible to solve many technical problems of connecting the two mechanisms. Flexible couplings relieve the rotor system from reactive forces and compensate for installation and operational deviations, as well as misalignments of the connected rotors.

Decarbonizing distributed power solutions.
Europe is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050, but energy transition is not just an EU initiative.
Countries inside EU and globally are setting targets to reach carbon neutrality even before 2050. It is a global transition that is centered on the transformation from largely fossilbased to a low carbon neutral energy system. This implies strong growth of the well-known renewable energy sources such as volatile wind and solar PV. An intensive debate is ongoing between the ones seeing an all-electric future and the ones promoting a technology mix like what we have today.
With electric vehicles for passenger cars and trucks, electrification is supporting a new sector of energy consumers that was dominated by fuels until now.
With strong growth forecast for heat pumps electrification is also growing in the heating sector. But there is the big challenge with the imbalance of volatile renewable energy sources supply and energy demand, which cannot be balanced with demand side management and large battery energy storage alone.

UEC Engineering: integrated supplier of equipment and services for oil & gas industry.
The importance of using domestic equipment in technically complicated and often critical industries for the existence of the state requires of Russian enterprises to develop and produce advanced and reliable products at an accelerated pace. Based on the decision of Rostec Group of Companies and UEC JSC specialized 100 % subsidiary, UEC Engineering, was established in March 2019. The main goal of the company's creation is to increase the efficiency of interaction with customers in the oil & gas industry and power industry by optimizing the system of contracting equipment and service supplies in a «one-stop shop» format based on direct long-term contracts.

Power stations on oil & gas fields: creation features and reliable operation.
Captive power stations on oil & gas fields provide electric and thermal power for the needs of infrastructural and production objects of the fields, improve energy efficiency, profitability and environmental friendliness of hydrocarbon production.
Ensuring the energy independence of the fields is a complex task. It involves the development and implementation of unique engineering solutions, assessment of efficiency, economic and technical risks, justification of the choice of generating and processing equipment, analysis of its reliability and environmental friendliness, the quality of fuel gas.

Grid tariff discount is real.
Power plants at industrial enterprises can not only reduce the risks in the cases of accidents in the power grid, but also provide significant savings.
The use of such power plants is particularly beneficial for enterprises with a large volume of energy consumption especially in mining and metallurgical complex. For such consumers, a new offer has appeared on the Russian market. It is the discount on the power grid tariff in the absence of capital costs for the construction of generating capacities.
In 2020, tariffs for produced capacity almost doubled, mainly due to non-market surcharges.
They account for about 2/3 of the total payment.

LUKOIL lubricating oil for Japanese turbine equipment enters the Russian market.

LUKOIL TORNADO S turbine oils will be used for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries centrifugal compressors which are operated on the site of Amonia-carbamide-melamine production complex of Metafrax, PJSC. Turbocompressors pump flue gases and extracted carbon dioxide.
LUKOIL TORNADO S was developed to meet the requirements of the JIS K-2213 Japanese industry standard and the latest stringent MHI specifications. The optimal TORNADO S oil change interval in MHI equipment is 8640 hours or about a year of continuous operation.

Up-to-date and climatefriendly injection solutions of Liebherr.
Liebherr is developing climate-friendly injection solutions for the use of hydrogen and synthetic fuels. As the internal combustion engine is still the dominant form of propulsion for mobility today, Components division of the company sees it as a logical step to also advance the internal combustion engine for the use of CO2-neutral fuels.
As a fuel in the combustion process, hydrogen is an attractive solution with its absolute CO2 neutrality. Of course, the premise that hydrogen is produced exclusively using renewable energy sources must be taken into account.

Selecting of ignition system for a gas engine.
Gas is perhaps the most volatile type of fuel in terms of composition. This is influenced by the existing of significant differences between the main types of combustible gas, and the use of fuel, usually in the form of a mixture of different gases in different proportions and the caloric content of the gas which varies at different times of the year and depends on the temperature of the gas itself. All of this complicates the design of internal combustion engines running on gas and dictates special requirements for the ignition system.
When choosing an ignition system, every detail matters.
MIC ignition systems of MOTORTECH (MIC3+, MIC4, MIC5, MIC6) are the most common in the world.
In addition to being economically attractive, they provide a high level of power, accurate ignition timing, and a variety of online diagnostics. This maximizes engine efficiency, increases spark plug life and the availability of equipment. The controller is fully configurable by the client using a laptop. An error in the choice of the ignition system controller at manufacturing of the gas engine power plant has negative consequences in many cases up to the overhaul of the engine.

Greenhouse complex Sayuri power supply in permafrost conditions.
The year-round Sayuri Agricultural Complex is located in Yakutia, where the amplitude of temperature fluctuations can reach 100 degrees, from –50 to +50 Celsius.
Extremely low temperatures and the peculiarities of year-round cultivation of vegetables in protected areas make interruption of heat or electricity supply a luxury that cannot be afforded. When designing and building the power plant, there was a task to ensure the agro-complex full supply with heat and electricity, as the independence from an external energy supplier allows to control such supplies and react promptly to changes in production or climate.
Gas-fired generators were chosen as the main generating equipment.

Educational and production laboratory at the Maritime University: its practical possibilities.
The best option for training students of technical specialties is their practical participation in real production projects. At the same time, the best option for selecting employees for production companies is to participate in their training during their study at a university. Cooperation between modern technology companies and universities is a global practice. It includes conducting joint research, training seminars and master classes, and participation of teachers and students in company projects. These ideas became the basis of a joint project of the VladModul engineering and technical company and the Maritime State University named after admiral G. I. Nevelsky in Vladivostok.
Almost all the engineering and technical staff of the company consists of graduates of the Maritime University of different years. They successfully apply the knowledge of marine specialties in technological solutions.
