Under the contract signed with Azerenergy Wärtsilä supplied 21 power units based on 20V50SG engines with a capacity of 18.3 MW each for the project. They operate in the base mode as part of the power plant which is located in close proximity to Baku. The total capacity of the station in Gobu settlement of the Absheron district is 385 MW. It is the largest gas engine power station in the CIS. The station operates in a simple cycle, all the electricity produced is transferred to the national grid.
