CHP station was commissioned on the site of Nizhegorodsky University named after Lobachevsky.

The station consists of two МТU АоЕ 12У 40001ЗЗР gas engine plants each rated at 1156 kW. Total electric output of the station is 2.2 MW, thermal output is 2.4 MW. The station operates on the base mode in parallel with the main power grid. The project was realized by Energonezavisimost Ltd. under turn-key contract.
