Toshiba to supply steam turbine and generator sets for 924MW CCP plant in Mexico.

Japanese firm Toshiba has received a delivery order for two sets of steam turbine and generators (STG) for 925MW Norte III Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) in Chihuahua, Mexico.

The STG sets to be installed at the facility will have a power generation capacity of 175MW each. Delivery of steam turbine and generators is expected to start from August 2016.

Spanish power technology provider Abengoa is the owner, operator as well as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the plant. The plant will house both gas turbines and steam turbines, wherein the latter will be powered with steam from the first type.

Commissioning for the facility has been scheduled for August 2017. Once operational, the plant will be the largest CCPP in the North American country delivering sufficient power for 500,000 homes every year.
