Second 270MW Bhel unit was commissioned at thermal power project in Punjab, India.

Power equipment manufacturer Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) has commissioned the second 270MW thermal unit at the Goindwal Sahib coal-fired thermal power project in the Indian state of Punjab.

This is the second thermal unit to be commissioned by Bhel at the project in a month, with a 270MW unit made operational in February. The 2x270MW thermal power project in Tarn Taran district, near Amritsar, is being developed by GVK Power & Infra Limited (GVKPIL.

Bhel carried out the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbines, generators, boilers, associated auxiliaries and electricals at the project. The company was also responsible for providing controls and instrumentation (C&I) and electrostatic precipitators (ESPs).
