IN BRIEF #2-2023

Advanced technologies of low-emission combustion.

The article presents the results of a comprehensive work on the creation of an environmentally friendly gas turbine plant with a capacity of 16 MW, operating in a wide climatic and power range, with a dry low-emission combustion chamber. Data on emission characteristics are presented, confirming the high completeness of fuel combustion over the entire load range and low emissions of nitrogen and carbon oxides at loads from 70 to 100 %.

Investigation of physico-chemical processes in a hydrodynamic cavitator.

This article discusses the possibilities of using cavitation processes based on the proposed hydrodynamic cavitator for cleaning contaminated water and industrial wastewater, neutralizing water from microbes and bacteria, in particular without the use of chemical reagents or in combination with other methods. It is shown how the values of the hydrogen pH index, the hardness of water, the concentration of dissolved nitrates, sulfates, and carbonates change in this case.

The design scheme of the intake air filtering and conditioning units of the INGK-Promtech.

To purify the cyclic air entering the axial compressor of a gas turbine plant air conditioning units of various designs are used. Depending on the climate conditions in which the plant is operated, STO Gazprom 2-2.1-226-2008 provides air conditioning units of three main types – inertial, filtering and inertial filtering. For units of the northern version the standard suggests using air conditioning units with fine filters as the second stage; for temperate and southern latitudes – accumulative air conditioning units based on compact cassettes (except deserts and semi-deserts).

Locomotive of Tyumen.

Tyumen Motor Builders public joint stock company is known for its production achievements far beyond the region and even the country. For 60 years the company has been repairing and producing the most important products, without which it is difficult to imagine reliable operation of the Unified Gas Supply System in Russia today. Tyumen Motor Builders PJSC is the largest machine–building enterprise in the Tyumen Region specializing in the overhaul and maintenance of gas turbine engines and gas pumping units operated at Gazprom compressor stations. The company was founded on April 2, 1963 . Its creation is associated with the beginning of the development of the oil and gas complex in Western Siberia.

New HiMSEN H54DFV & H32CV engines with two-stage turbocharging system.

To meet the market demand for high efficiency and low emission engines, HHI has been developing HiMSEN H54DFV and H32CV engine. Both of engines are applied with high charge air pressure by 2-stage turbocharging system, high PFP, controllable intake and exhaust valve timing, and injection timing for performance optimization at part load. Combustion system has been optimized by simulation and measurement. During the development step, modularized and user friendly design concept was applied base on HiMSEN engine references and experiences. For safe operation using gas fuel, the engine applied highly integrated control system considering HiMSEN safety concept and FMEA analysis. It helps to make a much more stable engine operation by reducing PFP variation of both cycle to cycle and inter-cylinders.

In the near future, the H32CV diesel engine will be converted to DF engine to improve the competitiveness among same class of DF engine by raising power output and efficiency with TSTC system.

Application of the new standard on explosive environments for the classification of explosive zones in gas pumping units compartments.

From July 1, 2023, instead of GOST IEC 60079-10-1 the interstate GOST standard is put into effect as the national standard of the Russian Federation 31610.10-1-2022 (IEC 6007910-1:2020) "Explosive atmospheres. Part 10-1. Classification of zones. Explosive gas environments. The article discusses the features of the application of a new one for the classification of explosive zones in the compartments of a gas turbine gas pumping unit with non-explosion-proof gas-using equipment. This topic concerns both gas pumping units developers and specialists of operating organizations. GOST 31610.10-1 is conceptually different in that it introduced a new concept: "3.3.8 zone of insignificant extent (zone NE).

Potential for improving the design of the main and auxiliary equipment of steam turbine plants.

In addition to expert assessments of the technical level of equipment, its unification and standardization, including using special expert scales, it is possible to use enterprise standards or industry standards developed specifically for specific equipment. There are no such standards in the domestic steam turbine industry, however, individual enterprises within the framework of transformation projects set their own evaluation indicators, their nominal and target levels.

At the same time, earlier domestic turbine plants did not take into account several key indicators when compiling the used nomenclature of indicators for assessing the technical level and efficiency of the equipment being developed and its life cycle. These include individual indicators of purpose, reliability, manufacturability, unification and efficiency.

The capacity of the diesel power station on the Kuril Island of Paramushir has been increased.

VladModul Company acted as a contractor for the supply and commissioning of a stand-by diesel generator set to provide small, partial electrical loads of the operating power plant. Thanks to the use of the new diesel power plant, fuel and engine life savings of higher-capacity installations installed at the North Kuril diesel power station on Paramushir Island will be achieved.

Cat 3412 diesel power plant with a capacity of 650 kW developed by Caterpillar will be put into operation. The financing of the project is provided by the Ministry of Energy of the Sakhalin region.

A universal stationary gas engine oil.

A universal stationary gas lubricant could significantly simplify logistics and operators for key players in the industry value chain, specifically oil companies, operating companies and end-users. The simplification of products translates to reduced storage issues and reduced incidences of blending errors by the oil company and reduced instances of charging the wrong oil by the end user. Cost savings, through economies of scale, could be realized by the oil company, operating company and the end-user, as these parties could purchase only one product at higher volumes. The authors have demonstrated it is possible to lubricate different OEM stationary gas engines powered by different gas types running in power-gen applications with a specifically formulated universal oil.
