Gas turbine CCPP will be located on the territory of Moscow northern administrative division. The customer for the project is Resad Ltd. Stroytransgaz JSC will handle designing, area, construction, installation and commissioning of the main and auxiliary power equipment. The first stage rated at 235 MW of electric and 380 Gcal/h of thermal power is designed on the base of GT13E2 gas turbine power unit with the capacity of 179.9 MW and STF15C condensing steam turbine unit manufactured by Alstom Power Systems.

The commissioning of the power plant for DNS-1 pumping station at Tailakovskoye field has been completed. The total capacity of autonomous power complex is 8 MW. It consists of six Waukesha VHP 9500GSI gas engine power units mounted in one building. Modular Cummins C1400D5 and C300D5 (stand-by) diesel generating sets are installed at the open site close to the power complex. Under the turnkey contract Energotech specialists carried out designing, power equipment delivery, installation and commissioning.
The fuel is casing-head gas from the field. The power complex provides secure power supply for the pumping station and for other technological and administrative facilities at the site.

The micro-CHP is an innovative power and heating system for single and multi-family homes. It is also one of the most efficient methods of energy generation: the fuel is transformed into both electrical energy and heat – usually in the form of steam and hot water. Consequently, more than 90 percent of the energy contained in the fuel is utilized – in comparison with just 38 percent for electrical generation by a power station.
Not only can the micro-CHP supply a four-person household with its heat, it is also able to meet two-thirds of its electricity requirements. Excess electricity generated is supplied to the public power grid. Siemens Building Technologies developed all the control electronics for this novel heating system and is working with manufacturers of condensing boilers such as Viessmann, Vaillant, Remeha B.V. and the Baxi Group.
The functionality of the micro-CHP is relatively simple: A gas-fired Stirling engine is integrated into the wall-mounted boiler.  The temperature difference between the heat and cold water is used to generate electricity. The current design makes it possible to produce a maximum of 1 kW of electrical energy, of which up to 900 W can be used directly. If the household consumes less, the excess is fed into the power grid of the energy supplier.

GE Energy has signed two new Jenbacher gas engine distributor and service agreements with highly regarded energy services companies in Russia as industry and municipalities seek more efficient, reliable, fuel-flexible onsite power solutions. These agreements also will support the country’s efforts to modernize its power generation and delivery infrastructure while reducing regional greenhouse gas emissions.
GE announced its new Jenbacher gas engine distributor and service agreements with Intma of Moscow and Vapor of St. Petersburg during Russia Power 2009, the region’s leading annual power industry conference. Intma is an engineering services/general contractor for power stations and production automation systems, while Vapor specializes in the engineering of sophisticated combined heat and power (CHP) applications.
Within the scope of the agreement, Intma’s sales and service territory covers the Ural region. Intma will focus on expanding the role of GE’s Jenbacher gas engines for industrial applications including associated petroleum gas power generation projects for oil producers, coal mine gas power plants, waste-gas systems for the metals industry and GE’s natural gas-powered cogeneration/CO2 fertilization systems for the commercial greenhouses.
According to the agreement, Vapor will support customers in Kaliningrad Oblast and the North and North/West regions, in addition to St. Petersburg. Vapor is exploring additional potential opportunities to help the food industry, greenhouse operators and other manufacturers overcome power shortages in specific regions by installing GE’s Jenbacher units to provide a highly reliable, onsite supply of heat and electricity. Vapor also is working with industrial and municipal customers to install modern district heating/CHP systems.
In late 2008, Vapor commissioned a three-Jenbacher unit GE cogeneration plant for an industrial company in St. Petersburg.
With the authorized distributors Power Solutions and Max Motors already in place, GE now has four authorized Jenbacher gas engine distributors in Russia.
In March 2009, GE Energy announced the opening of a new engineering sales, service and technology center in Moscow and plans to build a new power technology center in the Kaluga region, about 180 kilometers southwest of Moscow. GE’s Kaluga Power Technology Center will initially provide services for GE power generation equipment installed in Russia and the CIS region.
More than 230 of GE’s Jenbacher gas engines have already been delivered throughout Russia, in applications ranging from associated petroleum gas solutions to high-efficiency CHP projects.

The project is realized by Iberdrola engineering company, Spain. The customer for the project is OGK-5, the contractor is Engineering Centre UES. The power unit rated at 410 MW will increase power plant thermal output and will provide Sredneuralsk customers with steady heat supply for central heating and hot water. The power unit will be designed on the base of GE Energy PG9351FA gas turbine unit with the capacity 256 MW.

The project was realized by Regionstroy Ltd., the customer for the project is Riviera-Travel Ltd. Elteco Global has delivered the power equipment. Two PETRA 380 C cogeneration power units manufactured by Elteco, A.S. are designed on the base of Perkins 4006-23TRS1 engines and Cummins HCI534C/544C generators with output voltage 0.4 kV.
The power plant is run on natural gas as a part of the local grid. It also includes DP(S) 400 stand-by diesel generating set rated at 320 kW manufactured by Grupos Electrogenos GESAN S.A.

Siemens Energy, Inc. and Calpine Corporation signed an agreement to upgrade approximately one-third of the independent power producer’s fleet of Siemens F Class gas turbines, with an option to upgrade additional units. The Siemens technology upgrades on each unit are intended to add incremental capacity while improving the efficiency of the entire engine. Calpine intends to implement these upgrades over the next several years. The contract value is more than USD110 million.
Calpine currently operates 38 Siemens F Class gas turbines in the United States, primarily in California and Texas. The thermal performance upgrade to the Siemens SGT6-5000F combustion turbine is intended to increase base load power, while significantly improving the overall base load heat rate. The scope of the technology upgrades for the turbines will vary from unit to unit, but will generally include combustion turbine components, operational enhancements and installation services.
“Increasing efficiency through the modernization of the existing power generation fleet helps our customers produce environmentally compatible electricity to meet the nation’s future energy demand,” states Randy Zwirn, CEO of Siemens Energy’s Service Division. “Siemens considers these upgrades to be an important step in helping make Calpine’s fleet a more competitive force in the changing energy landscape.”
